KATIE NEEDS HULA LESSONS!

It's time I became more well-rounded! I want to take dance lessons but all my money goes towards rent and chinchilla food. Please buy some art!! Here are some super lousy photos (sorry)!!!

I'll be putting up these drawings on ebay soon...probably not until next weekend though, because I'm going to Nevada tomorrow to visit my folks. But I wanted to give a heads up!

If by some chance you DO want to bid on a drawing, please make sure to read the drawing descriptions very closely! Some of these drawings are somewhat small, and others have little imperfections, like white out or a slight smear of the markers.

Again I apologize for the lousy images here! I took these with my camera, but it made the colors and inking look funny in some of them. I'll replace them when I get back.

One more thing- if you buy some art, the proceeds go to a good cause- hula lessons, a nice donation to the Archive, tap lessons, maybe a nice dress...

Another new obsession

I'm obsessed with beautiful French pop singers from the 60's! Maybe this isn't new for you, and I'm retarded for not already knowing all about these girls by now, but that's how it is...someone mentioned the name "Sylvie Vartan" and when I googled it I discovered one of the cutest people ever. I can't remember who it was who mentioned her...please come forward so I can thank you!

Anyhow, here are Sylvie doodles, drawn mostly from wonderful videos of her that I found on YouTube. I'll be posting my favorite ones on my other blog later tonight probably!! She's so great! She's got great teeth! This black and white drawing below is terrible...I like the colored one, though.

After looking up Sylvie, I searched for other French cutes, and found Francoise Hardy. She's so beautiful! These drawings don't do her justice at all!

All the interesting angles on her face are hard to capture! I'm sorry Francoise!
Francoise has good teeth too, and makes really pretty and unique mouth shapes when she's singing.

I found France Gall too. She's wonderful! So cute. I have a list with a million names to look up- 60's singers from France, Spain, etc...It'll take me forever to memorize all their songs and dances! If you are into 60's pop and ye ye girls, then please send me some recommendations!

Beautiful Miss Gall...how can I smile and look serious at the same time like you do?

Love love love. Go see how wonderful these girls are on my other blog, ok?

P.S. I know a lot of people aren't interested in seeing my practice drawings, but for now that's all I'm gonna post...I'm keeping my fun stuff secret!

I'm excited about friendship

I'm happy! I think I might be finally coming out of a super hideous drawing rut that I've been in for the past few months. I'm not posting any of the new drawings here though...I've decided to keep any new ideas to myself so I can use them for special future projects! I hate to say it but I've grown paranoid about sharing stuff on the web...

But anyhow, even though I've been depressed about drawing for a looooong time now, I was able to find some drawings with glimmers of happiness in them...and lo and behold, they are all of pals! I actually have lots more, and of different friends, but I don't know where I left them...maybe at work? Sorry if I posted some of these already, but I am not so smart at 2 in the morning.

Some more people I like:

Here are some people I don't know...they are not my friends, unfortunately.

BONUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (not really)

I made this crappy comic a while ago. Let me know if you need a translation for this retarded waste of time! I write like a 5 year old!

EXTRA BONUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (not really)

I made a new blog for other kinds of stuff. If you like my funnycute blog, maybe you will like it. If you don't like my funnycute blog, then maybe you will like me less after reading this new one. :)

Sad sad sad

April 11th was a really sad day for me...I tripped on the stairs and fell tits first into my chicken lunch. But a million times worse than that, my favorite author Kurt Vonnegut Jr. died. I'm still really bummed out. I never wrote him a fan letter or anything, even though I've read some of his books about 10 times over. Ehhhh...I wanted to write an essay about why I loved his stories so much, but thinking about it is bringing me down.

I suppose as a pitiful "tribute" I'll post some sci-fi-esque drawings, drawn in happier times.

P.S. Sorry for the blurriness...I don't have a scanner set up right now, so I took these with my camera.

Cintiq work doodles

I don't currently have a working scanner, so right now the only drawings I can post are ones that are drawn directly into the computer. That means work doodles! At Nickelodeon they have us drawing on cintiqs, which are really cool. Most of these are crappy doodles drawn mindlessly while on the phone or taking breaks.

My pal Fred showed me a way to animate using painter, so I've been playing with that a little. It doesn't work that well though...you can't time it or anything. Or maybe I'm just using it wrong. My favorite failed animation attempt is this girl dancing and playing the guitar. I would have posted the actual animation, but as I said it didn't work that well and popped all weird. Here are a few of the cuter poses from it though.
Right now I'm working on a show called El Tigre, which will be airing on Nick on March 3rd. My favorite character to draw on the show is cute blue haired Frida, designed by the lovely Sandra Equihua ( http://www.fulanita.com/ )! If you're curious about the show, go check it out on the nickelodeon website! Here is my own version of Frida:
Sorry I haven't got anything too interesting to post! I'm keeping most of my personal projects secret for the time being. Also, I'm getting pretty tired of just drawing one loopy pose after another on blank paper. I've been trying to get better at drawing functional drawings, which means I have to work on stuff like construction and perspective and crap. Those practice drawings would be boring to look at, and my progress is slow. So it might be a while before I have anything entertaining to show!

Ok, bye!
