Work break drawings

Sometimes when I'm working a lot and I start to feel burnt out, I'll take a break by messing around in Photoshop. Here's some stuff done after hours at the studio.

I still prefer drawing and coloring by hand, but it's nice to try other things. My next post will probably be another sketchbook one.

This next one is a design I did for a freelance project that never went anywhere. I kinda like how she turned out.

Ok! Back to work! Thanks for coming back. ^u^

Sketchbook pages...again

Got my scanner up and running (kind of), so here's some recent sketchbook stuff. I'm not drawing nearly as much as normal, so there isn't a lot. But I'm not giving up on this blog or anything!

Here are some man heads referenced from old mug shots. A favorite source of inspiration. :)

Régine Chassagne, from Arcade Fire.

Drawings of Mimmers, my boyfriend's Mom's toothless toy fox terrier.

Johanna and Klara Söderberg, of First Aid Kit. I'll probably be drawing more of them soon.

And the usual pretty girl doodles. I kind of like these.

Ok, that's it! Thanks for sticking with my blog even though my updates have been infrequent! Don't forget to check my Tumblr every once in a while!

Burnt out Photoshop work crap.

Oy. I am pretty burnt out lately. I've barely been drawing at all, although sometimes at work I'll mess around in Photoshop when I need a break.

Cuter sketchbook version:

I think I'm channeling Miss Withers here.

These are Photoshop versions of a couple drawings from my last post. I definitely prefer the marker versions!

One more.

I also feel like I've been slacking lately on my Skadi comic. I'm going to try really hard to improve the quality of my drawings there. Here are some close ups from this week's comic, in case anyone wanted to see them better.

Hope you guys have a fun Valentine's Day! I'll be working! T__T

more sketchbook stuff.

Yow. A combination of too much work and not enough sleep has made it hard to draw, or find inspiration. I'm gonna hopefully post some Scott Pilgrim drawings soon, once I finish watching the DVD.

Anyone have suggestions for how to get inspired? :)

Here are some semi-recent drawings from my last sketchbook. I like them, and I hope you do too.

Ok! Thanks for coming back! Don't work too hard! And don't forget to visit my Tumblr every once in a while...the link is on the side there. UuU

New year, new Tumblr!

I've been pretty swamped lately, and haven't had a lot of time to dedicate to personal projects and drawing. It makes me blue to be posting less on this blog, but to make up for it I've started a Tumblr, dedicated to all the art that's too weird or crappy to be posted here.

There will be post-it doodles...

...and drawings done while watching movies or TV...

...and weird drawings of murderers...

...and little work-break drawings...

...and probably lots of other little weird things will go there, like photos, failed comic ideas, and drawings done with friends.

But just cause I'm starting this new thing doesn't mean I'm gonna totally abandon this blog. Hopefully I'll have something nice to show here soon.

Hope you like the new Tumblr! It's easy to get to...http://katiejrice.tumblr.com.
Go check it out! (^u^)
