I love Conan the barbarian!!
I love him so much, I even went into my no-comfort zone and tried drawing some manly men.
Poor Baby Conan! There is a lady who doesn't belong on the page with him. That's not why he's sad though.
Some of these pages have really crappy drawings on them, but I think they're kind of funny. I colored the ones I liked in an attempt to trick people into not noticing the really doofy ones. A palette cleanser: Conan's super hot mom...
Another sketchbook page...this one has cultist girls with sexy diapers, and a lone Subotai as well.
Most of these were drawn while watching the movie, but a few are from images I found online. Drawing from the TV is really fun! I don't do it that much. I want to do it a lot more. Some more really dumb Conan drawings, and some of Valeria too. She's hard to draw.
More Valerias and scary witch ladies.
Here's the last page of Conan movie doodles. Subotai is there too, as well as Thulsa Doom, and Thorgrim, who is one of my favorite guys in the movie (he's the blonde one with the cool bangs). I love that guy. I gotta watch this movie again and concentrate on all his scenes.
Luna is in there too! Appropriate. Also, I've been thinking about pulling out some of my old comic roughs I did a while ago and finishing them up when I have time. I have a couple comic projects I want to get started for real, but the one that revolves around my highschool buddies is gonna come so natural to me to draw I think, that it'll be a good way to sharpen my comic-making claws. The look of the characters in it changes all the time...here's how they look at present.
Here's one more of Christine:
What do you guys think? It seems a bit self-centered to do a semi-autobiographical comic to me, but since it is mostly making fun of how horrible we were back then, I'm not worrying too much.If you like these designs, click on my "pals" label, or search "highschool" on my blog. I've got tons of drawings of these girls, as well as a couple comics. Thanks for reading, as always! (^u^)/
Take a look! I did a pin up for Craig Yoe's new Jetta book (Craig Yoe is the guy who brought us the Arf Museum art books, as well as the Milt Gross book everyone is raving about). I haven't gotten my copy of the book yet, but I've had a chance to see what's inside, and it looks amazing. In case you don't know about Jetta already, it's a Dan DeCarlo comic about a super cute spacegirl. Here's my pin up...
...and here's the cover of the book. If you want to see more from the book, this blog has tons of art and info!
There's tons of comics in it, as well as some extra Dan DeCarlo art, and lots of beautiful pin ups from guest artists. There were a lot I really loved, so it was hard to choose just a few to show off here, but here are a few of my favorites:Here's a couple of close ups from my submission...
These were drawn in my favorite way to draw- straight pen to paper, then loose marker coloring over it. Then I scanned in the individual poses and arranged them in Photoshop, adding tons of weird effects to it.
Shake yer space booty...arrg...I lost the sketchbook that has the originals for these, and the color comps. If I find it I'll post those too! Thanks for taking a look! Go get this book, it's a must for anyone who likes cute space chicks and funny comics!P.S. Upcoming posts include "how we make Skadi" and weird man drawings! For all you guys out there who get on my back for not drawing men, I DO draw them, I'm just not proud of them. But I'll post them just for you. Harrumph! Thanks for reading! (^u^)/
