The Galactically Hot Women of Star Trek

Everyone is talking about Star Trek now that the new movie is out! It made me want to watch the older episodes again. Then watching them made me want to draw the cute space girls. SO I dug up this link someone sent me a while ago and did some post-it drawings.

"
The Galactically Hot Women of Star Trek" is a photo group on Flickr, and it's really cool! Go look at all the cool hairstyles and costumes!

Super hot Uhura is first in line:
Add Video

Most of these aren't really recognizable caricatures, just doodles that are inspired by the photos. OH HEY I would recommend drawing on post-its to anyone in a drawing slump- it takes away the pretension and makes you less intimidated to draw well.

Some of Mudd's women :)

This drawing is terrible...

...but I like how this one came out!

This girl didn't really have those weird eyes...

The extras from this episode are really funny...the girls are cute, and the men wear super ridiculous wigs that are pretty great.

Some of these are extra wonky since I drew straight ahead, but it doesn't bother me...drawing for fun is just as important as studying and practicing and all that.

I would like to be a Star Trek girl in space. T__T

I hope to do more Star Trek drawings soon! I really want to draw Spock, as he is the perfect man and all. I also want to do some full body drawings of some of the girls in their cool costumes and stuff. Also I'm kind of regretting coloring some of these post-its, some of them looked cooler in black and yellow.

OH also, this weekend Luke and I went to Stuart Ng's bookstore/showroom, and spent our weekly "fun" budget on new French comic books. The two on the left are my finds, and the two on the right are Luke's.

All of them are really cool, but the two I got are gonna require some fanart. I'll post about them soon.

Also coming soon: Moongirl fanart, for those of you who know the show UFO! Actually I've never seen the show, but the costumes are so cool I had to draw some of them over the weekend.

K gotta get back to work now, thanks for reading!

Two pencil friends

Just a doodle for today! I like drawing with pencil, but using markers over them can look kind of weird if the colors are too dark. Should I ink this and try a different method?

The next couple of months are gonna be nuts with work, so this weekend I'm going to make sure I put aside some real drawing time. If I come up with anything ok I'll post it next week, so come back and tell me what you think! (UuU)

Ok have a happy night, y'all.

Dirty pencil pictures

A couple nights ago I sketched some girls out of dirty 60's magazines while watching "The Tudors" with Luke. I don't draw with pencil very often because I'm less confident with how my lines look. These are more practice drawings than fun drawings, but I'll post them anyhow cause I liked how some of them turned out.

The cheap color job on that one above is just Photoshop. These are drawn on watercolor paper though, so maybe sometime I'll use these for paint practice!

The drawing of the lady with scary eyes is super wonky, but the model was so cool!!

I liked these yesterday but tonight I'm not so sure.

I like these though. :)

I'm taking a mini-vacation this weekend- Christine (she's in the comic I posted below) and I are going to Tahoe for our high school reunion. I hope some weird events will happen so I can do a comic about it.

I'm getting up at 5:30 so maybe it would be smart to sleep. Goodnight!

Petting Zoo Comic

I finished it early! That means I do studio work all day tomorrow. AND I learned that it takes about 5 times longer for me to color in Photoshop than it does in Flash or with marker. No more Photoshop coloring until I learn how to do it the easy way.

Anyway this comic is a true story!

Em swears she didn't say "I'm not responsible for this!!!" but I totally remember hearing it, and since it's funny to me I kept it in. I'm sure she'll chew me out later.

If you enjoyed my insipid story, I have older posts with my high school friends as well!
Meet them here!

And here are some drawings I did right after the petting zoo incident took place.

And here’s a comic about a dream I had with some of my HS buddies.

Some more fun: here is the photo taken of Em, 6 seconds before she got yelled at and fell off of the poo barrel. I wish I'd taken one of the aftermath, but I was pretty flustered.

Don't kill me, highschool friends!!

I'm tired...goodnight!

COMING SOON

***UPDATE***

The last of my inks from 2003 are up for sale on Etsy! See below for thumbnails! Check it out please!

I roughed out a comic a few months ago, I'm gonna see if I can get it cleaned up over the weekend.

Also, I'm gonna go ahead and put all the inks I've been able to scrounge up on Etsy next week! Here they are, the last batch:

See ya later! Please come back and see my comic when it's done! (>u<)=b

How I yearn for fun!

Also, I am shipping stuff out as fast as I can. There has been some issues with finding proper shipping supplies, and enough of them (Burbank has really been failing in this area). HOWEVER the majority of items have already been shipped, and the ones that aren't will be soon. So far everyone's been really patient, and I appreciate it! Also, I ran out of the free sketchbooks...so no more of those... U__U

OK back to the old post...

I think I'm gonna do more prints soon. The Skadi ones are nearly gone, and I think I'd like to try some smaller, more personal prints. What do you guys think of these two ideas?

This is kind of weird, but I like how it turned out! It's post-it doodles of France Gal, Sylvie Vartan, and Francoise Hardy, set up against the texture of the lamp in my living room. Those girls had a lot of different looks, so if you're curious as to who's who, it's like this:

Francoise France Sylvie Francoise
France France Francoise Sylvie
Francoise Sylvie Sylvie France
France Sylvie France Francoise

I can't decide which girl is most beautiful. I used to think France Gall, but now I think it's Francoise Hardy.

Here's another:

Sorry, I think this is maybe the 3rd time I've posted this drawing on my blog! >__<;
This time though, I've scanned a dress I loved in highschool and put it as a weird background. If I make this into a print to sell, I'd probably make it small...postcard size, or maybe 8 x 10. What do you guys think?

OH HEY!! Nearly all the Etsy orders have been shipped out now, and people have begun writing me to let me know that they've arrived. Some of the stuff might get moved about while shipping (especially the prints in the tubes), so don't forget that each one comes with an extra drawing, like these!

ALSO!!

Here are the inks that are for sale now...except for the Elf girls, I decided to keep them for sentimental reasons!

Another thing
...tomorrow marks a whole year that Dumm Comics has been around, and is also the debut of our newest Dumm artist, David Gemmill!

A whole year of making comics seems pretty crazy to me. It's been difficult and fun and I get more motivated to continue every day. The only problem is that I want to do new comics besides Skadi, but with work there's no time. Ah well...if you like Skadi, then check it out this Wednesday, which starts our new 6 parter story. Exciting! Also, I'm working on a post about me and Luke's process that will go on the Skadi blog soon.

My hideous rough, and the end product!

It feels crappy not having new or fun stuff to post, but eventually I'll be less swamped and I'll go back to normal. I'm looking forward to it. T__T
